Dark Romance

New Story, New Blog. You’re Invited.
I shouldn’t do this, but sometimes an opportunity, a challenge comes along and you just can’t resist it. Most authors know that it isn’t ideas they lack, it is time, peace, and the order to be able to execute those ideas onto the page that is the real challenge. Many of us have have a back log of unfinished stories, ideas, and would be half-born characters, stuck somewhere in there metamorphosis from dream to word on the page, I know I’m not alone in this.
I’ve gone one step beyond and shared those stories with audiences, let life get in the way, and broken promises to readers by writing the story on my mind instead of the story they needed. I have one such expected novel that groans under the weight of expectation. Bogged down by my personal life, by choices beyond my control, by financial troubles, by so many unkept promises I don’t know where to start, my most successful pen name and my most successful stories remain trapped in stasis, waiting to be woke from their semi-permanent tomb and have life breathed back into them again.
And instead of pumping life support into them, I am starting a new series.
In walks Theoreads.
I started working with Theoreads near the end of REAM’s big rise toward author subscriptions. Ream still exists, and I still have a half-finished or two story there, but the shake up with the leadership left and a redirection in goals was somewhat upsetting to me. It took the shine off the place. When I was approached by the owner, founder of Theo, I jumped at the chance to work with an energetic woman of vision who knew exactly where she wanted to go with her company.
Not only did she understand the trouble spicy authors face with companies like Amazon and platforms like Medium, and Patreon, she understood the reader. Not only did she understand the modern digital ebook reader, she poured money into research to understand that reader even more. With a background in marketing and a love of personal choice, this woman has given heart and soul to her vision and her company.
She came to me recently and asked me if I could write a book exclusively for them.
And I said yes.
After a jam session with another remarkable, supportive author, I presented them with an idea for a gothic dark romance, set in a fantasy world that blends magic with sex and curses with destiny.
I have also written on Inkitt, Wattpad and Ream, where I shared my rough draft with readers and readers helped me with obvious edits, any continuity issues, and just by asking questions along the way. I’d love to invite you, ANY OF YOU, to do that here. If you could just wave and tell me you are there, I would love that too.
First step for you: subscribe to the new blog. It’s free. It will stay free until I’m at a place where I can confidently say I’m done.
This won’t be the final version of what I write, but it will be the basic story. Then I send to edits. Then I slave over edits and you send me messages saying “WHEN?” And I procrastinate. THEN we make Advanced Reader Copies. YOU get one of those in exchange for a review on THEO, Goodreads, and Storygraph. Want to do a Fable bookclub?? Let me know. I can help.
I can’t wait to hear what you think.
XOXO
Izzy
